They say laughing is good for your health. Well, we have just the prescription for you. SF Sketchfest: The San Francisco Comedy Festival, returns for its 15th year, January 7-24, 2016. For 16 glorious days, the world's funniest comedians, writers, actors and entertainers converge on the city.
Some of the biggest names in entertainment will be here, mostly for tributes and awards, including Jeff Goldblum, Dave Barry, Kristen Schaal, Parker Posey, Fred Willard and Christopher Guest. The Festival is a mix of nationally recognized super stars, locally famous performers and up-and-coming sketch troupes. The Fest program features a wide range of events including the aforementioned tributes and awards, as well as performances and panel discussions. In the past, contributors to hit TV shows like Saturday Night Live, The Simpsons and The Daily Show have been honored. This year's tributes highlight the animated series Bob's Burgers, comedic genius Patton Oswalt and beloved actor Sally Field among others.
Events take place at venues throughout San Francisco including the Castro Theatre, Brava Theater, Marine's Memorial Theater and the California Academy of Sciences. All are easy to get to on public transportation from the Hotel Nikko or via hired car. Street parking is the way to go around most of these neighborhoods, and there is an underground parking garage at the Academy. Tickets for SF Sketchfest are on sale now.
