Based in Fillmore Center Plaza (1475 Fillmore Street), this two-night dance party has quickly become a treasured summer staple, closing three city blocks to all traffic but salsa dancing. Due to the city’s rich, multicultural character, events in San Francisco draw crowds from all ends of the globe. That’s what makes the Salsa Festival on Fillmore so amazing – worlds of people united by Latin rhythms, getting their groove on! The 2015 performance and activity line-up has yet to be announced, but the dates are secure, so mark your calendar for the nights of Friday, July 10th and Saturday the 11th!
Six Years of Salsa on Fillmore
Since its inception, festival crowds have swelled to more than 7,000 dance-happy revelers. Festivities kickoff around 7:30pm, with free salsa dancing lessons, live music from some of the Bay Area’s best Latin bands, DJs, and dances by local performers, with several area clubs hosting free after-parties at 9pm. Most outdoor festivities end by 10pm, when $20-$30 tickets are necessary for featured acts at up to six famed Fillmore Street venues. A number of retailers and restaurants also participate, offering special menus and discounts in honor of the party. Past musical acts include:
