Hundreds of premier athletes from the Bay Area and around the world will test their limits on Sunday, August 21 at the San Francisco Triathlon at Alcatraz. A race designed for athletes by athletes, this competition is one of the fiercest you will find – and it's just a month away. The SF Triathlon at Alcatraz features three challenging parts:
1.2-Mile Swim in San Francisco Bay – Racers will jump from a perfectly good boat into the frigid waters of the Bay and swim to shore, a feat many prisoners at Alcatraz no doubt dreamed of in their cells.
23-Mile Bike Ride – Athletes next hop on bikes to race through the San Francisco hills on two wheels.
6.1-Mile Run – Finally, competitors will run the last portion of the course, which winds through the city's most scenic – and difficult – oceanside trails.
