Honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and remember his message this Monday, January 16 and the weekend before. Discover several San Francisco events throughout the city that you can attend, and make plans to celebrate the life of this legendary leader.
This year's theme is "Justice in the Community," and some of the top activities on Martin Luther King Jr. Day include:
- MLK Day Parade & March (11 am on January 16) – Thousands march in this commemorative parade, begins south of the Lefty O'Doul Bridge near AT&T Park. It then stops in the Willie Mays Plaza to commemorate the Edmunds Pettus Bridge crossing of the famous Selma-to-Montgomery march. Parade ends at Yerba Buena Gardens.
- Black Comix Arts (January 15-16) – Enjoy a grand expo of comic art, kids activities, film screenings, panels and conversations, and cosplay events.
- Liberation Film Festival (January 15-16) – Watch free screenings of civil rights shorts and human interest documentaries, followed by conversation.
