Feinstein's Forbidden Broadway Performances

Cabaret doesn't get any better than Feinstein's at the Nikko in San Francisco. The elegant and intimate nightclub, which operates the Hotel Nikko in conjunction with Emmy- and Grammy-nominated entertainer Michael Feinstein, has been the stage of choice for such top-name performers as Betty Buckley and Paula West. Well, if you're looking for a fun San Francisco event, you'll want to make plans to come to Feinstein's sometime between July 10 and July 27, 2014. That's when the smash hit show "Forbidden Broadway" will be the main event. The long-running Off-Broadway revue is known for its cleverly biting parodies of Broadway musicals. Created by Gerard Alessandrini, "Forbidden Broadway" opened way back in 1982 at a small supper club in Manhattan where it ran for more than 2,300 performances. Overall, the show has been performed over 9,000 times across the United States and internationally in Sydney, Tokyo, Singapore and London.
Featuring two men and two women plus a piano player, "Forbidden Broadway" spoofs everything from songs to characters from past and present musicals, including "Les Miserables," "Rent," "Spider Man: Turn Off the Dark," "Wicked," "Spamalot," "The Phantom of the Opera" and "Annie." The show also pokes fun at well-known actors, directors, producers, composers, choreographers and writers like Harvey Fierstein, Kristin Chenoweth, Mandy Patinkin, Patti LuPone, Bernadette Peters, Stephen Sondheim, Bob Fosse, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Michael Crawford, Julie Taymor, Liza Minnelli and Mel Brooks. If you're a fan of musical theater, you'll dig the sassy skewering style of "Forbidden Broadway." Get show and ticket information atwww.hotelnikkosf.com/feinsteins.aspx.
