Did you know that members of The Four Seasons – the voices behind such classics as "Big Girls Don't Cry," "Stay," and "Walk Like A Man" – were in and out of prison? That's right, while some bands of the 1960s tried hard to look tough, these crooners had to clean themselves up for the spotlight. That's what makes the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Jersey Boys such a sensational piece of San Francisco theater. Not only does it feature incredible performances of some of the catchiest songs in the history of American radio, but the story makes for truly great entertainment. Handsome actors singing songs we all know, characters with mob ties, love affairs, and prison stays, the show has something for everyone – just five minutes from our hotel at the historic Orpheum Theatre, now through Valentine's Day.
About the Show
Ever since its 2005 Broadway debut, Jersey Boys has had audiences around the world singing along and dancing in the aisles. Starting here in San Francisco, national and global tours soon followed, entertaining fans as far away as South Africa, Australia, Singapore, and the U.K. You can also rest assured that the story is factual – or four different versions of the facts – as each member of the group tells a chapter of the story. Not only did the production win the Tony for Best Musical, Best Lead and Best Featured Actor in 2006, it also won a Grammy for Best Musical Show Album, as well as London's Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 2008. More recently, Clint Eastwood brought the story to life on-screen in 2014.
